A conversation with
Her Eminence Jetsün Khandro Rinpoche

2 December 2009

At the end of an eventful summer at Lotus Garden (Khandro Rinpoche's retreat center in Virginia), as the suitcases were being loaded into the departure car, Jetsun Khandro Rinpoche was kind enough to grant this interview for the Chronicles.

Our guest interviewer, Helen Berliner, is a senior student of both Trungpa Rinpoche and Khandro Rinpoche. In this interview she talks with Her Eminence about:
Buddhism in the West,
cultural habits—East and West,
the Buddhist culture of community,
mandala principle,
masters and methods of training,
training in community,
training in leadership, and
transmission and empowerments.

For more information about Khandro Rinpoche, her teachings, and her communities, visit lotusgardens.org, mjkr.org, and mindrollinginternational.org.

The opening and closing drum themes for Let Loose are by Jerry Granelli, recorded on Sandhills Reunion. The closing theme is from Drala by Peter Lieberson, recorded on Raising the Gaze. Thank you to both composers for their permission to use these excerpts from their work. Thank you also to Marvin Ross for his photographs of Thrangu Rinpoche.
