From DKD

Nine intrepid souls braved the -3 degrees (F) weather to attend the Shambhala Day festivities at Dorje Khyung Dzong Retreat Center in Southern Colorado. Three retreatants plus several locals joined Bruce and Melissa Robinson hosting their twelfth Shambhala Day as Resident Directors of DKD. One friend, Susan Dean, drove over an hour through blowing snow from Trinidad CO to attend. Locals were happy to hear the Sakyong’s address and commented that they felt so much closer to him because of his retreat at DKD last summer. After the broadcast and practice of the Sadhana of Mahamudra, we all enjoyed a bountiful Pot Luck Lunch. - Melissa Robinson

The Rat

I am the self-proclaimed acquisitor
I am a link yet function as a complete unit.
I aim at encompassing heights
and strike my target,
sure and steady.
Life is one joyous journey for me.
Each search must end with a new quest.
I am progress, exploration and insight.
I am the womb of activity.
I AM THE RAT

Happy New Year

Grey ocean waves grey beyond grey
Hidden sun red beyond red
Dogs bark and bark and bark
as snow falls on broken trees, the swath of beach and into the water, all the way out as far as you can see
Oblivious, ceaseless and so perfect,
Joy beyond your name.
