I knew John in the 70's when I showed up at the Berkeley Dharmahatu, a local calligrapher drawn to buddhism. John and i worked together on graphic projects for the center over those years and I received something deep and simple from him around how dharma art could permeate your life. It was his way of being, his careful kind eye, his quiet twinkle of delight. My young artistic soul noted something true in john and was enriched and guided.
