Apparently random choice... In 1999 seminary I had the privilege of serving Lady Diana when she came to SMC for a Stupa dedication. She totally surprised me by requesting me to continue service at Marpa House, Boulder for a few days while she prepared for and gave her first public teaching in many years and then again in Halifax.. Why me I thought when she had the entire sangha to choose from in Boulder & Halifax. The apparent connection was service and then food - I think she liked my cooking & that gave me more confidence in doing 'the unknown or new things' since it was a bit nerve wracking to suddenly become a 'private chef' for an important person. She was nervous about being in public again both at SMC and in starting to teach. I was able to watch her work with this as I worked through my insecurities about why she asked for me to be with her, as well as how and what to serve. The photo you let me take of you at Marpa House sits on my shrine for your 49 days and reminds me of the connection we once had. Thank you!
