Like Carolyn Kanjuro, Vivi devoted her energy to the bodhiosattva path caring for her spouse with all she could bring to the task.. She was also a dedicated student of Chogyqm Trungpa, and her meditation practice enabled her to live as a khandro, or what is known in the Tibetan lineages as a sky dancer or dakini. Realizing emptiness or Sunyata, Vivi became a consumate bodhisattva warroress, and her discipline of Kyu no michi allowed her to manifest this lineage to her students via Kyudo as taught by the dharmapala , Shibata Kanjuro XX.
I remember her strength and deep kindness when she used to visit Seiko Kyudojo at Karme Choling. Both Vivi and Ken Rawie taught kyudo together in Washington, both were deeply connected to the Shibata family lineage of warriorship in the HInayana , Mahayana and Vajrayana aspects, including vajra level ajikan Ho Sha practice, making offering to the kami drala ,and receiving their constant blessings. Those who practiced kyudo with Vivi were indeed fortunate, in colloquial speak, "They got the whole Enchalata." I am sure Vivi is now flourishing in a pure realm, where she continues to practice Kyu no michi in the company of thousands of lineage holders who have gone before. Love to you Vivi, may your arrows fly far and wide and bring peace to our world. Til we meet again.
