We lived at Karme Choling at same time in late 70's. We were on the building crew - working on new retreat cabins. He was asked to build a post & beam house in the woods outside of Lexington Kentucky (for Bill Gordon), and asked if I could be on the building crew, which I did for about a month. We both had Japanese connections re his interest in the culture and my martial art practice. He had his beloved Japanese saws, and books on post and beam construction with him. When we got to the site we discovered there was no electricity (I don't recall that being part of the deal lol) so we tented while clearing land, sourcing materials and getting the foundation ready. He was a gentle, fearless, curious person - who was not afraid of adventures. I'll remember him whenever I need reminding of what a human being could be.
