I was in Paul's renewable energy class at Naropa, 1975 and we were business partners for a short time with a wood stove store in Boulder on Walnut Street.
He was a serious innovator and early adopter, on the far left side of Fick's Laws of Diffusion curve. Historically, people on that side have made the biggest contributions to world culture; but, have also been the most criticized. Most people don't like change and, because early adopters are synonymous with change, innovators tend to attract more criticism than warranted and much less praise than deserved.
Though not as visible as many of our foundational sangha building blocks, Paul's contributions were huge and helped create much of what we still have today.
