The Halifax Shambhala Centre is pleased to announce that Shechen Rabjam Rinpoche—the grandson and spiritual heir of Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, one of Trungpa Rinpoche’s principal teachers—will be visiting Halifax during the first week of August 2026. During Rinpoche’s visit, he will bestow the abhisheka for the Sadhana of Mahamudra. This event—creating an auspicious connection to the Vidyadhara’s dharma transmission in the West—will be open to the public.
Scorpion Seal
In response to a supplication from the late Druk Sakyong Wangmo Lady Diana Mukpo, Rinpoche will confer the abhisheka for the Scorpion Seal retreat and related transmissions. Rinpoche is especially qualified to bestow this abhisheka, having received the complete transmission of the Shambhala termas directly from Trungpa Rinpoche in 1982 (as requested by Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche). To make it available to a broad group of sangha, the requirements for attending the abhisheka will be (1) having received pointing-out instruction from a qualified lineage holder and (2) Werma Sadhana transmission and experience.
Tantrika Teachings
Additionally, Rinpoche will provide teachings and empowerments specifically for tantra students. He will offer teachings on the nature of mind (trekchö) in accordance with the writings of Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche and confer empowerments for the Könchok Chidü (Embodiment of the Three Jewels) terma cycle and the Longchen Nyingtik guru sadhanas of Rigdzin Düpa (Assembly of the Vidyadharas) and Thigle Gyachen (a guru sadhana of Longchenpa). These practices were specifically mentioned by the Vidyadhara as a pathway he intended for us into dzokchen practice. They will be of interest to practitioners already well-grounded in Kagyü mahamudra training.
In the coming months we will provide further information and details about registration, timing, and logistics.
