Carolyn Morris Kurtz, the beloved daughter of the late Ellis and James Kurtz, was born on July 28, 1941, and passed away peacefully on September 16, 2026. She was born in Bexley, Ohio, and spent happy days at Bexley High School, where she was president of Y Teens, a multi-sport athlete, and an outstanding student. After attending the University of Colorado at Boulder, where she became a member of Delta Gamma, and graduating from The Ohio State University, Carolyn enjoyed traveling to many countries, including Sweden, where she had the opportunity to meet her childhood pen pal. Seeking a deep connection to and understanding of the world, Carolyn returned to Boulder, where she studied Buddhism at Naropa University. Buddhism aligned with her generous nature and innate kindness, and her studies brought her great fulfillment as she formed many special friendships and served in the supportive role of a Kasung, helping to maintain the well-being of Buddhist community members. She also delighted in hiking and biking, singing in a church choir, and caring for her dogs, especially Benjamin and Aris. She is survived by her sisters, Ellis Gery and Marilyn Parker, as well as her loving family and dear friends. Her ashes will join those of her relatives in a sacred spot in Ampa’s Woods at Walloon Lake in Northern Michigan, where she spent summers with her family. In Carolyn’s memory, contributions may be made to the Drala Mountain Center, 151 Shambhala Way, Red Feather Lakes, CO, 80545, or to any charity of choice. But above all, the best way to honor Carolyn’s life is to be kind to others. Schoedinger Northwest is honored to be serving the family.
