Priscilla Ann (Luscomb) MacLean died on the morning of July 4, 2026 in Boulder, Colorado, following complications from a recent fall.
She was born into a military family on October 31, 1951 in Denver, Colorado. She lived
all over the US during her young life…. Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Dakota,
California, and (Western) Massachusetts… where her father retired from the Air Force.
She attended elementary, middle, and high schools in Granby, Massachusetts near the
Berkshires, as did her older sister, Deborah, and both younger brothers, Jonathan, and
Christopher.
In 1976, she moved to Boulder, Colorado to attend Naropa Institute (now Naropa
University) where she received a Masters in Buddhist Psychology. She spent her
professional life as a practicing psychotherapist/counselor but never stopped studying
and adding to her skills. Her real vocation was in helping wherever and whenever she
was able. And she did… even in death as an organ donor!
She was a devoted student of Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, and an active member of
the Boulder Shambhala community, for most of her adult life.
Priscilla also raised a family, after marrying Hector MacLean, with whom she shared two
sons, Andrew and Gregory, both of whom pre-deceased her. Her zest for life began to
wane following that extraordinary loss.
Priscilla was a beautiful girl and woman, and a classy dresser – who could be ornery,
seductive, funny, generous, shy…. probably someone different for all who were part of
her rich life. May her continued journey be fruitful and obstacle-free.
All three of her siblings, Deborah, Jonathan, and Christopher, as well as many of her
wonderful friends, were nearby at the time of her death. She seemed to be at peace.
Please send your tonglen, prayers, and love to Priscilla, and her family.
There will be two services on Monday, July 6th. Both services will be based on the
Sukhavati liturgy, written by her teacher, Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche.
The first service will be held at 2 pm at Greenwood & Myers Mortuary, 2969 Baseline
Road in Boulder. Priscilla’s body will be there until later in the day when it will moved to
the crematory.
A final service will take place at 5:30 pm at Greenwood & Myers Crematorium, 502
Walnut Street in Frederick, Colorado. Offerings to offset funeral expenses will be gratefully accepted by the family. Donations can be made by eTransfer, Zelle, or on Paypal to account: dfluscomb@gmail.com.
May all beings be happy and at their ease.
Priscilla took care of others. I got to know her over the 3+ years we partnered in caring for a mutual friend. Priscilla went above and beyond helping this friend stay in his home as long as possible. Her dedication was impressive and inspiring. It was a daily (sometimes 2-3x a day) task for her — and was difficult at times — but she took her responsibility seriously and would have never thought to abandon him.
Priscilla had a sharp sense of humor. She could be caring, funny, or critical—you never knew what to expect with her, and she kept me on my toes!
I recently learned of a mantra that Priscilla was particularly fond of, and I think this section is so appropriate for her:
“Until the suffering of the three worlds is completely exhausted, I will courageously dedicate myself to the welfare of others.”
